Our Policy Goals

Expand the Health Care Workforce Serving Underserved Communities

Advocate for increased funding and authorization for federal workforce programs that place clinicians and allied health professionals in underserved rural, urban, suburban, and frontier areas.

Support targeted initiatives to expand provider availability in primary care,
behavioral health, dental, and maternal health in high-need communities.

Strengthen Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience

Promote policies that enhance recruitment, support retention, and improve resilience and well-being for the health care workforce, including mental health supports and burnout prevention.

Expand loan repayment, scholarship, and residency opportunities in high-need areas through programs such as the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), Nurse Corps, and Teaching Health Centers.

Broaden Workforce Program Eligibility

Advocate for expanded eligibility within workforce development programs to
include non-physician and allied health professionals, such as behavioral health
providers, optometrists, community health workers, dental hygienists, and public health professionals.

Ensure programs reflect modern, team-based models of care and diverse
community needs.

Invest in Evidence-Based Federal Programs

Protect and increase funding for federal programs that demonstrate measurable
success in addressing workforce shortages and improving access in underserved areas.

Support sustainable, long-term investments in HRSA-administered programs such as the National Health Service Corps, Federal Office of Rural Health Policy program funding, and the Teaching Health Centers Graduate Medical Education grants.

Build a More Diverse and Representative Workforce

Support policies that increase opportunities for individuals from historically underrepresented communities to enter and thrive in health professions.

Promote funding for pathway programs, mentorship, and academic support
initiatives that cultivate a workforce reflective of the communities it serves.

Elevate Data, Transparency, and Accountability

Support improved federal and state data collection and reporting on workforce shortages, program outcomes, and community impact.

Advocate for greater transparency and coordination across federal agencies involved in workforce funding and regulation.
